Isn't She Lovely

When I think of my Grandmother the song "Isn't She Lovely...Isn't she Wonderful" comes to mind. This "Lovely Lady" passed away on May 2, 2010. I had the opportunity to go home and be with my family to celebrate the wonderful amazing women and life that she had. It gave me a chance to think about my Grandmother and what she taught me and what she meant to me in my life.
Grammy in her 20's

I will be eternally grateful to my grandmother for many things she taught me and for her example, but I think the number one thing would be for my mother. Because of the tough, strong, amazing woman that my grandmother was, she was able to raise my mother. These 2 ladies are amazing hero's of mine. They have taught me also to be strong and through them and their example I have a strong Testimony and love for the Gospel. I can only hope to teach Colby with the love, strength and example that these women have taught me.
I have so many great memories of my grandma. I can remember her coming to visit and I would paint her nails...usually a pink color, which was not my favorite. I also wanted her to do some other fun crazy color but my grandma always knew what she wanted. I would say my greatest memory of my grandmother was sitting around the table for hours playing Canasta or Hand and Foot. I would play her for hours just to try and beat her. And even when her eye's began to fade she still had it in her to beat me.
My Grandmother was 97 years young when she passed away. She led an amazing life and was able to see some amazing things in her 97 years of life. One thing I was grateful for was that Colby was able to meet his Great Grammy. At Christmas was their first meeting and then again in February. I know Colby will not be able to remember her, but he will grow up with a knowledge of her and the legacy she left.

I can't begin to tell you the impact that my grandmother has had on my life, the life of her kids, her grandchildren, and all her great grandchildren. As we all gathered together, there was of course sadness that this wonderful woman had passed away, but the knowledge of the gospel and the Plan of Salvation had us remember that we will see her again!
Thank you Grandma for your life, legacy and for all the life lessons that you taught each of us. Your strength, example and memory will forever live within us. I can only hope to live, love and learn as much as this amazing woman did in her 97 years of life. I love you Grandma!
