Grandpa Mahaffey

When I was serving my mission, my Grandfather (my Dad's Dad) past away. I was unable to be in Utah with the rest of my family for his funeral, so this past week we went to go and visit his grave. My Grandfather was an amazing man in so many ways. One thing he did was he served our country in World War 2 as Communications Specialist and was in the infantry. Because of his brave and honorable service he was buried at Camp Williams which is reserved only for Veterans. When we got to the cemetery my parents took me to his gave and then told me about the graveside service. It sounded amazing! He had Veterans from all around Utah march in and had a 21 gun solute! It sounded like he was given the royal treatment. It was great to hear all about that day and then to be able to visit the site was so special for me.
Here are some pictures from that beautiful day

It was a great day to go and visit his grave, it reminded me of the wonderful, brave, strong, and faithful man he was. Because of him and his accepting heart of the gospel, my dad's family joined the church. My Grandfather gave not only me and my family the gift of being a forever family, but he raised an amazing man who I get to call my dad! Thank you for your life, legacy and example Grandpa!
