Being a mother is the hardest job I have ever had in my whole life. However, nothing can ever top seeing Colby roll over, smile, walk, cry, learn, and grow. He and I have had our ups and downs since he has been born, but I wouldn't change a thing. Even on my hardest days with Colby, I am still very thankful for his wonderful spirit and energy he brings to my life. I can only hope to be a good mom that teaches him and loves him, just like he loves and teaches me everyday! One year ago a little boy changed mine and Cameron's life forever, but in the best most amazing way possible!

One Year Old
It's hard to think that this time last year I was taking Colby home from the hospital. Yesterday we had a wonderful day where we celebrated Colby's first birthday! It's hard to believe that he is already one! He has grown up so fast it's almost hard sometimes to remember how little he was. In my family our tradition is to have breakfast in bed...now I know he has grown up fast, but not fast enough to eat in his crib. But he did get donuts in his highchair.

The powdered one made him a little thirsty
Later that day I began preparing his birthday cake. As most of you know, Colby LOVES the show Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He watches it almost every morning and dances to all the songs! So I thought it would be fun to attempt a Mickey Mouse cake. Here I am mixing one of the colors.
I am no cake maker but it was fun...and lots of work, but I was pretty happy with the finished product.

After dinner we put the candle in and sang Happy Birthday to Colby. Usually whenever you put something in front of Colby it is destroyed before you blink. However, this time he didn't even want to touch it. We aren't sure if he was scared of the cake, or scared of hurting Mickey. I was all prepared for Colby to dig right in and destroy the cake, but every time we tried to get him to touch or eat it he would cry. It was a little late and it was very close to his bedtime, plus he is teething and hasn't felt the best, so that could have added to his fear of the cake.

I know this picture makes me look horrible because I am laughing at my son's expense, but this is really how he was after the first initial touch of the cake.
The only smile we got from him when the cake was around was from his dad making faces at him.
He did however get quite a bit of presents. And he enjoyed ripping the paper off the presents!

Thanks Nana and Papa for the toys and books, Aunt Misty for the Mickey DVD's and Nonnie and Poppie for the cool clothes and hat! We had a fun night!
