Bruiser

Now that Colby is learning to walk there's been a lot of excitement, but it also comes with a lot of bumps and bruises...and these days it's a lot of bruises. It seems like everyday there is a new bruise or red bump on Colby. It also seems like when he gets a bruise he continues to fall in that exact same spot to make the bruise even bigger. On Friday Colby was walking and had a miss step which had him fall face first onto our makeshift gate guarding our entertainment center (aka the chairs to our table). He fell and hit his head on one of the legs right in between his eyes. At first it got all purple and looked bad, but then it just started to get more red than anything, which we were happy about.
Here he is right after it happened...you can even still see the tears lingering in his eyes!
Here is another good picture...as you can see he still poses for the camera
Today after Colby woke up from his nap he was playing with me in our room. As he was playing on the ground he crawled over to the bed and was pulling himself up when his hand slipped and all I heard was a loud bang followed by an immediate scream. I picked him up and held him and tried to calm him down thinking he just bumped his head. However, I looked at his head to see what new damage had been done, and found that he hit the exact same spot as he had on Friday. Only this time it turned him into a character right out of Star Trek.
In less than a week now we will be taking Family Pictures...we are just hoping that the huge bump/swelling will have gone down by then...the bruise may have to be a job for photo shop! Despite the traumatic events of the day, one of the cutest things was to see Colby just lay on his daddy and rest his head on his shoulder. I think he just needs his daddy to be there to comfort him. I guess this is just the beginning of what we can expect from our little man!

OMG, alien child!! That looks nasty. Hopefully he can manage to keep from hitting that spot for a while. Can't wait to see bruiser and you guys in a couple days, I hope you have an uneventful trip. You might watch out, people will turn you in to CPS if he keeps getting these bruises. jk

Did you post these pictures along with the story so that Child Protection Services don't haul Colbs away?

Oh my gosh go buy some Arnica gel it will make it go away fast and it's nice to have on hand for next time. Swelling goes away with in like 10min if you put it on right away. You should be able to find it in a natural food store or something. We keep a tube upstairs, downstairs and in the car.
