We have a biter...

Some stages that your children go through are so cute, like when they learn to roll over, crawl, or walk. However, I am learning there are stages that leave you wondering..."what do I do?" That is the stage I am currently in. Since Colby has been 6 months old, he has had 6 teeth. And from about month 7 1/2 till now, he bites. The one that makes me worried is that he bites people. We have been tryong to teach him that it's bad, and I have tried what seems like everything to get him to stop, but still he continues. I have decided that he has joined "Team Edward" and bites everything in sight. I thought that this biting obsession was only on human flesh, however I was wrong. Yesterday I walked into Colby's room to get him from his nap, to find this:
Yes you guessed it, all the black stuff on his face is what he has been chewing off his crib. And below you can see exactly what his crib now looks like.
Here is his innocent look- "What!? I didn't chew on my bed!"
I will be happy when this stage is over, but until then any helpful hints or advice would be great. He has already bitten the ladies who work in the gym at his kids corner, and some other kids he has played with. It has made me a very scared/worried/embarrassed mother. So any helpful hints to help me with this would be great! Until then I just hope our little beaver doesn't chew through his bed in the middle of the night and escape to go feast on human flesh!

That is soo funny Lindsay! James my oldest did that too. We have a table in our family room that still has James' teeth marks on it. Good luck with this fun stage! Ours didn't last very long, so don't worry. He learn when someone goes and bites him back.

I understand how you feel about not knowing what to do and feeling like you have tried everything...not with biting but with other fun parenting things! Jace over loved a little girl one time and she was pushed over by him and I apologized but her mom didn't seem so nice about it. Later that same day, her little girl bit her cousin. So don't feel overly embarrassed. At least you are aware and are trying to take care of it! Congrats on 3 years!!
