DC Bus tour

The second day that everyone was here we decided to go into the city and see all the sights! This is another favorite for me! Seeing the gorgeous monuments never gets old! This time was a whole new experience for me. We decided to take one of the bus tours where you can hop on and hop off where ever you want and sit on the top and take in the city from a whole new perspective. This I found is another great way to see everything you want without having to walk everywhere or try and pay/find parking. Needless to say I am a fan and if you ever come this would be the way to do it. Plus the tickets are good for 2 days. So if you don't see everything you wanted the first day you can go back and see the other half of the city the next day.
We first started at the Washington Monument and walked down to the Lincoln which is where we first hopped on the bus!
All of us in front of the Washington Monument (it was also the National Kite Flying day so people were starting to get their kites ready)
When we first got down to the city it was a little overcast and foggy, so some of the pictures are a little hazy, but we still had a great time!
Our Nations Capitol building
Next we headed down towards the World War II Memorial
Some of the beautiful spots around the memorial
Our next stop was the amazing Vietnam Memorial wall. It is a beautiful reminder of the many brave men and women who fought for our country and remind us today that so many men and women are still fighting.
Moving down the mall we next hit the Lincoln Memorial. This picture doesn't do it justice, but if you have never seen this monument then get ready, because it is HUGE. It is a massive building, it's gorgeous!
Colby wanted me to let him down so he could go and attempt to climb the statue, but not only is the statue huge, but I am pretty sure we would have gotten arrested!
Unfortunatly while we were down there they were working on the reflecting pool so it wasn't the beautiful sight that you normally see from the Lincoln!
Colby enjoyed the ride he got down from the Lincoln Memorial. Which I think Uncle Tony enjoyed too!
Next we were able to rest for a few minutes and wait for our bus. And then the fun began. Colby was really excited to be on a bus and on the top and look out!
The great thing about being on the top of the bus is that you can take lots of pictures around the city of things you wouldn't always want/need to stop and walk around. Plus as I have round it's a lot easier to take great pictures being up a little higher. Here are a few views from the top.
The Jefferson Memorial
Shots outside Union Station
Colby and Cameron sure had fun on the bus...as you can see....
Our next "hop off" spot was the Capitol Building. Unfortunately we were not there during a tour time, but we still loved looking at the beautiful building.
Then it was back on the bus to our next stop, but not before I got some more pictures of my two favorite boys on the bus...
More sights from the bus...
Colby and I also had a lot of fun on the bus...or did he have more fun with dad? His face sure seems to tell me he did...
Colby kept giving me kisses...and pulling my head towards his...not that I am complaining, I love getting loves from my little man!
Colby loved the wind in his hair
Our tour ended with a drive by of the White House...if you zoom in really close you can see Obama on the balcony....just kidding!
It was a great day and ended up being a beautiful day. We "hopped off" at the Washington Memorial and by then all the kites were flying high and making dotting the sky.
Thank you Lori, Tony and Jordan for visiting and making it such a fun weekend!
